It is always a pleasure to work with cast members from musicals. The shared commitment within a cast to strive for perfection in their performances is amazing, and being part of this process is always an honor. This time, I’m fortunate to work with cast members from two outstanding musicals that are yet to come. I have the double pleasure of working with cast members from both Frozen(Circus Theater Scheveningen) and Moulin Rouge(Beatrix Theater Utrecht)

You move into your new home in the Netherlands. Will your neighbours pass by with home made cookies or a cake to welcome you to the neighbourhood? Probably not. The Dutch are sensitive about invading your privacy. They have seen you moving in and they assume that you are far too busy to be bothered talking to them. They will leave you on your own and they will not introduce themselves to you. What they expect however, is that you will introduce yourselves to them when you are settled in. Even when it is nobody’s birthday, you are still confronted with birthdays every day! Most Dutch people tend to display their birthday calendar in the bathroom, in order not to forget anyone’s birthday. These birthday calendars only give you the dates. They are without days of the week and the year, so you can use them forever. Presents are normally inexpensive. Guests often bring a bunch of flowers with them or some chocolate. A bottle of wine is also appreciated. The Dutch do not feel comfortable with people dropping in unannounced, not even on a birthday! Gift certificates are
